Ben Paterson has over 40 years of experience in chemical engineering, including a 37 year career at Eli Lilly and Company. Over the past four decades he has held technical and leadership roles in process development, process engineering, facility design and construction, and process control. His experience includes development and scaleup of manufacturing processes for biopharmaceutical and small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). He has expertise in separation processes such as distillation, evaporation, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, liquid extraction, crystallization, filtration, and drying. Keeping the commercial-scale process as the end-in-mind, he has facilitated the transition of many processes from lab, to pilot scale, and to the manufacturing plant . His experience with most unit operations of chemical engineering allows him to apply these skills to a wide variety of process applications. In his spare time Ben enjoys beekeeping, robotics, and climbing Colorado’s 14ers.
